Solahart Solar Hot Water

Thermosiphon Roof Mounted System

thermosiphon-roof-mountedAll Solahart solar hot water systems, where the tank is roof- mounted, use the Thermosiphon principle to collect heat from the sun and transfer it to your hot water. The Thermosiphon principle is based on two naturally occurring phenomena:

  • Dark objects absorb heat
  • Hot water rises

All Solahart collector panels are coated with a dark, heat-absorbent surface. This coating absorbs the suns rays and heats the fluid in the collector panel. As the fluid heats, it rises to the top of the collector panel and into the tank where it displaces cooler fluid which flows in to the bottom of the collector panel where the process is repeated.

The greater the temperature difference between the fluid in the collector panels and the water in the tank the faster the flow between them.

In open circuit systems the fluid in the collector panel is water while in closed circuit systems a special antifreeze fluid called, Hartgard, is used.

Open Circuit System

When heated in the collector panel, it is circulated in a jacket around the tank to transfer the heat to the water inside. Closed circuit systems are recommended for frost prone areas or in situations with poor water quality.

Closed Circuit System

In this way Solahart solar water heaters constantly soak up the sun’s energy to maximise your energy savings.

With a Solahart Thermosiphon solar hot water heating system you can choose from a range of boosters including in-tank electric or gas boosters to ensure you always have hot water on tap even on cloudy days.

Solahart Streamline Systems

split-systemSolahart’s Streamline split system solar water heaters are designed to give you the maximum flexibility of installation locations.

The low profile and unobtrusive Solahart solar collector panels are mounted on a North facing roof, whilst the storage tank is mounted at ground level out of sight. The electric boosted model can even be installed inside your home. This minimises the visual impact of going solar, while maximising the potential savings from the sun.

How the Streamline Works

With Streamline open circuit systems the water is circulated from the tank at ground level through the collector panels by an electric pump called a ‘circulator’.

Cooler water is pumped in a continuous cycle from the bottom of the tank and circulated through the collector panels where it absorbs the heat extracted from the sun before being returned to the tank.

The circulator is regulated by a control unit on the water heater. When the controller senses an 8°C differential in temperature between the top of the collector panels and the bottom of the tank, the circulator is activated until the temperature differential falls to 4°C. This ensures the optimum use of the sun’s free energy.

With a Solahart Streamline solar hot water system you can choose from a range of boosters including in-tank electric or gas boosters or in-line gas continuous flow boosting to ensure you always have hot water on tap even on cloudy days.

Heat Pump 325HAV

heat-pumpThe Solahart Heat Pump 325HAV is a smart, energy efficient alternative for areas where a traditional solar water heater may not be suitable. It uses one of the most abundant renewable energy sources, heat from the air, to provide hot water for your family.

Rather than using roof mounted collector panels, efficient heat pump technology extracts energy from the surrounding air. Ambient warmth is used to convert the refrigerant within the sealed system into a gas. The gas is then compressed to generate even more heat which then heats the water in the tank. What’s more this process can work day or night, in sunshine and rain, all year round.

Installation is quick and easy. The heat pump can usually be installed in the same location as an outdoor electric water heater and connected up to the existing plumbing and electrical connections, making it a great replacement for an existing water heater.

It is also equipped with an electric booster designed to operate only in very cold conditions to ensure a quick and efficient supply of hot water when you may need it most.

The ceramic lined tank is further protected by its sacrificial anode designed to provide longer life and peace of mind.

Synergy Heatpump

Synergy 310HAV

synergy heatpumpThe Solahart Synergy 310HAV is a smart, energy efficient alternative for areas where a traditional solar water heater may not be suitable.

The gas is then compressed to generate even more heat, which then heats the water in the tank. What’s more this process can work day or night, in sunshine and rain, all year round.

The Solahart Synergy also uses an advanced design to provide single pass true top down heating. The flow of the water through the heat exchanger is controlled to ensure the water is heated to 60°C in a single pass and deposited at the top of the storage cylinder for immediate use. This ensures a faster supply of useable hot water.

The Synergy’s larger compressor gives quicker recovery providing hot water faster. Synergy has the recovery similar to an electric water heater, but with the energy savings of a solar water heater. The ceramic lined tank with its protective anode has been developed for longer life and provides peace of mind. It is also equipped with an electric booster designed to operate only in very cold conditions to ensure a quick and eficient supply of hot water when you need it most.
